How It Works

Here is a general process for how clients might receive a diagnosis and treatment plan at a counseling practice:

  1. Initial Consultation: The client will meet with a therapist for an initial consultation, either in the office or via telehealth. During this session, the therapist will gather information about the client's symptoms, history, and goals for therapy.

  2. Diagnosis: Based on the information gathered during the initial consultation, the therapist will work with the client to determine a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan.

  3. Treatment Plan: The treatment plan will outline the specific goals of therapy and the interventions that will be used to achieve those goals. It will also specify the frequency and duration of sessions, as well as any additional resources or referrals that may be helpful.

  4. Ongoing Therapy: The client will then meet with their therapist on a regular basis, either once or twice per week, to work on the goals outlined in the treatment plan. The therapist will provide support and guidance as the client works to overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.
