Debra McLaughlin
LAC, NCC
It’s easy to lose sight of one's heartfelt direction in an ever-changing world filled with distractions and demands. When this happens, it may seem impossible to navigate the journey back to being oneself.
Debra provides a warm, caring, and safe environment where individuals are free to explore, learn, and connect with their authentic selves. She is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and her experiences include working with clients in various settings: private practice, community-based settings, substance abuse clinics, collegiate counseling at The College of New Jersey, and walk-in crisis clinics.
Debra has worked with clients ranging in age from 13 to 94 years. She assists clients struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, relationship stress, addiction, grief, and trauma.
The cornerstone of her treatment is a combination of a collaborative relationship between herself and the client, along with the utilization of evidence-based therapeutic treatment modalities. These modalities include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),
Mindfulness, Humanistic Therapy,
Motivational Interviewing,
Eclectic Interventions, and
Somatic Therapy.
Debra helps clients identify, create, and develop tools to better manage their thoughts and emotions and regulate their nervous system. Through this work, clients achieve the ability to connect to their true selves.
"Live in a way that feels true to you and pay attention to the small miracles that every day brings."
